Need a Good Night’s Sleep?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Did you know that any disruption in your normal sleeping patterns is considered a sleep disorder? Sadly, many sleep disorders go undiagnosed for long periods of time simply because patients think these disruptions are either small and unimportant or may resolve on their own. Both thoughts are wrong and pose potential risks to your overall health.

This month we’re working to help spread the word that you deserve a good night’s sleep and we’d like to make sure you get one. Whether we need to see you, or your partner, we encourage you to speak with your doctor about what’s keeping you up at night.

“Our family care team hopes you’ll stop by to say hello. Take a few minutes to enjoy some refreshments, check out our practice, and have a health screen.”

Like any good neighbor, Eagle Harbor Medical Associates knows that after you’ve made big improvements, you have to open your doors to friends and community members to see the to see the improvements, enjoy refreshments, and chat.

Flu Threat Affects Hospital Visits Policy

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

“Every Virginian wants to maximize safety for hospitalized patients.” So says Virginia’s Health Commissioner, Karen Remley, MD. That’s why she has urged all Virginia hospitals to adopt an “Adults 18+ Only” visiting policy.

All 18 hospitals in Hampton Roads, including the three Bon Secours facilities – DePaul Medical Center, Mary Immaculate Hospital and Maryview Medical Center – are cooperating with the requested policy change. Effective today, Thursday, October 15, families are being asked not to bring young visitors to the hospital.

The visitation measures will be in place until the combined threat of the H1N1 and seasonal flu viruses has passed.

The policy applies only to visitors. Children and young people needing medical care will be cared for as they always have been.
